About me

Hi there! I am Nikolaos Nikos and I am a wireless telecommunications enthousiast with a special taste for performance evaluation and characterization of 4G and 5G wireless systems. My professional and research interests lie in the intersection of physical layer processing and computing systems.

Currently, I work as a 5G NTN Software Engineer at Software Radio Systems (SRS). Before joining SRS, I was a research assistant in the NETCOM Group at IMDEA Networks Institute, Madrid, Spain.

I obtained my PhD degree from the Telematics Engineering Department at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M) under the supervision of Prof. Albert Banchs and Prof. Marco Gramaglia. During my PhD, I explored different topics in virtualized Radio Access Networks (vRANs), reinforcement learning and quantum computing. I also carried out an internship in the Aerial Performance team at NVIDIA, California, USA.

Prior to my PhD studies, I graduated with a diploma (5-year joint Bachelor and MEng) in Electrical and Computer Engineering at National Technical University of Athens (2017) and a Master’s degree in NFV/SDN for 5G Networks from UC3M (2021).
